Tick-r-Teeeeet

Ella had her first experience putting on a costume and going trick-or-treating.

We went to Greenfield Village to begin celebrating the many Halloween events we have coming up in the next few weeks.

Ella liked the idea of saying "tick-r-teeeeet" and then getting something yummy in return.

She didn't seem apprehensive about any part of the Halloween Festivities. We saw about 700 lit jack-o-lanterns, some silly pirates, and a scarecrow that moves around.

Zoo Day Fun!!!

We went to the zoo today. The 1st grade classes from the school I teach at were going to the zoo on a field trip. I was able to meet up with a few teacher friends, and see some of the kids I had last year in Kindergarten. Ella was able to see her friend Mya too.

It was a bit chilly, but that meant that we saw many, many animals out, about, and busy. We saw a gorilla eating a pumpkin, snow monkeys grabbing treats out of a pumpkin, lions lounging in the sun, tigers walking around, a hippo swimming, and many, many peacocks walking about (I was so brave).

Many areas of the zoo were decorated for Halloween. There were even pumpkins painted and assembled to look like zoo animals. We (David, Ella, and myself) are going back to the zoo next Friday evening to go trick-or-treating at the Zoo Boo.

Butterfly House on Mackinac Island

When we went to Mackinac Island a few weeks ago we visited the Butterfly House. Ella was pretty amazed at all butterflies that were fluttering here, there, and everywhere.

I'll get you my pretty....

David posted this little story to his Facebook a few days ago and I thought I would share it here too. It is pretty hilarious!!!

For the past several weeks, as we get Ella ready for bed, Deanna goes thru her nightly ritual of washing her face as Ella soaks in the tub. One part of this nightly face washing ritual is Deanna putting on a mask, which is green (stick with me here).

When Deanna puts on this green mask Ella has taken to groaning: "Ohhhh Mommah Mommmah Mommmah" almost as if she is lamenting the fact that her Mommah has turned into some green faced beasty. She then collapses into a full on giggle attack once Dee leans over to kiss her with the mask on. (Still with me?)

So for the past few weeks, as Halloween has approached, Ella and I have been working on something...

See, at the Kroger we shop at every week, there is this animatronic Witch set up by the Halloween candy…

Ella and I usually go off on our own away from Dee and we pick up various things, but every time since we discovered the Witch I make a point to visit with the ole Lass. We stop, point at the green faced Witch and I feign surprise at seeing “Mommy” hanging out by the candy section. Ella would break down in giggles but never really go along with me. That was until today while I was at work and Dee took Ella on a quick and innocent Kroger run.

Still with me? Good cause it gets better.

So the Three of us went out to pick up some things at Target tonight. As we approach the check out, Ella points up and goes "OOOOHH MOMMAH MOMMAH MOMMAH!" Not quietly mind you. Looking up what did we see? A banner with a likeness of Frankenstein... a Green Frankenstein.

At this point I felt a very sharp pinch in the small of my back. I turned to see Deanna giving me the cold stare of death as she breathlessly mouthed "You will Pay".

As we made our way to the car, and I was still rubbing my back Deanna told me about her experience at Kroger that morning: They wheeled innocently by the Animatronic Green Witch; when Ella points, and say's: "Ohhh Mommah Mommah Mommah". I can only imagine the look of horror on Deanna’s face, and the confused looks of all the innocent older folk out for some mid-day grocery shopping.

Dorothy's Nemesis

Is there an uncanny resemblance?

It’s gonna be a very fun Halloween… for me :)

Fall time fun!!!

Just a few more photos from Saturdays Ice Cream Cone first.

I mean...doesn't everyone cross their legs while eating an ice cream cone?

Once you finish eating an ice cream cone, all a girl needs is her chair, her bubble lawn mower, and her blowing bubbles to make a nice Fall evening complete!

Having fun at the Cider Mill

A few weeks ago we went to the Cider Mill for the first time as a family. The Cider Mill had an awesome set up. There was a play area for kids, a small petting farm, pumpkins, and of course cider and donuts.

Ella really enjoyed seeing some of the animals.

~Wondering when our next Cider Mill visit will be dee, Do we really need to go to another Cider Mill? David, and Mmmmm....Mmmmmm...Mmmmm....apple cider Ella

Bo Bo the doggie...the legend...the song!!!

Ella is always singing or humming a tune. The songs in her repertoire include the Mommy Morning Song, the Mommy-Daddy Song, and of course the Bo Bo Song.

She never disappoints when she sings a little diddy...as you can see and hear David enjoys the sing along aspect of Ella's Compostions.

Mackinac Island was great!!!

We had beautiful weather (the prediction had been rain, chilly temperatures, and possible snow/ice/freeze stuff earlier in the week) we had sun, a bit of wind, temps in the low to mid-50's, and did I mention sun!

Just me and my girl!

Just looking for our next home!!! (Notice how we are both standing the same with our heads tilted...could we be more alike?!?!?!)

Ha, ha...the giggles that were heard during this moment!

Do we really have to look at more nature stuff?

Whew...after a long walk and a nap everyone needs an after nap snack!
